Certified Permaculture Design Course

11th May - 26th May 2024

Extended to 15 Days with Extra Active Days

After a four year break, Re-Green and friends are back with a Permaculture Design Course that includes new perspectives, diverse experiences and fresh input. Our certified course covers an understanding of the ethics and principles behind Permaculture Design, enabling us to apply them in creating regenerative and appropriate designs for human activities. The location is our beautiful, abundant Permaculture Farm & Eco Culture Centre in the Ziria mountain range of the Peloponnese (www.re-green.gr).

This course is suitable for all wanting to dive deeper into abundant, natural and self-reliant lifestyles. Drawing from Applied Ecology, Mental Resilience, as well as Doughnut Economics and other regenerative topics, we will explore actions that can both empower individuals and ignite wider regenerative transitions. From harnessing nature’s elements and growing your own nutritious food to building alternative economies and regenerative organisations. We are a diverse team with wide-ranging experiences and interests, and we will bring these into the course as much as possible over the two weeks together.

Meet

the Teachers!

Dr. Rod Everett

Introduced to permaculture teachings during the 1980’s Dr. Rod Everett is one of the senior and original teachers in Europe. As an organic sheep farmer & fruit grower in the hills of Northern England, he has developed a deep understanding of water in the landscape & regenerative land management. Along with an intuitive understanding of natural systems that support our human existence. An ecologist and researcher in organic and permaculture systems, Rod runs Backsbottom farm organically; raising sheep and 200 heritage apple varieties. The farm is run to ensure that wildlife take priority and thrives.

Mill Millichap

Rod’s great friend and co-teacher Mill Millichap brings his knowledge and skills of food growing for many years and living a thoughtful and simple life. From tree nursery to re-forestry, protecting the land with sensitivity of understanding nature's intelligent design. Together they have taught in their creative style in many locations around Europe and as far afield as Egypt. Mill has been living in Seliána for the past seven years since he decided to move permanently to Re-Green and has taught eight PDCs at the farm. The one thing we can guarantee is that it will be FUN!

Steven Verhelst

The course will be co-led by Steven Verhelst of Liveloula Eco Community who has over 12 years’ experience in permaculture design, building healthy soils and self-sufficient off-grid living. After visiting a dozen Eco projects as a volunteer for 2 years he and Chenny found the perfect plot of land to fulfil their dream of living a self-sufficient lifestyle in a homestead. 10 years into the project, he has mastered skills in landscaping, soil care, natural building and garden design, whilst building on his skills in food forest design and management. For the past 3 years, he has been invited to various projects around Europe as a teacher and consultant in natural building and landscape design.

Chenny Beh

Chenny was born in The Netherlands, and after 10 years as part of an independent midwife practice, her direction in life changed and - along with Steven – she came to Seliána to volunteer at Re-Green. The combination of the diverse landscape and souls with similar wishes for life led to finding land nearby. Already 11 years further down the road she calls Greece home and lives off the abundance of their Permaculture homestead Liveloula.

What unites the diverse paths in her life is a strong desire to be independent, a love for nature, a physiological perspective on the body, a passion for good, healthy food and working with people in her daily life. She loves to dance, play with her seeds and baby plants, and collect flowers and plants to make wonderful potions and meals.

Eller Everett

Eller is a PHD student and business consultant. Her work is focused on integrating permaculture into businesses to develop regenerative strategies that bring the environment and people into the heart of the organisation. Her research also looks at how permaculture can inspire active hope in environmentally and socially conscious professionals so they feel motivated, and able to respond to global crises.

Emily Antoniadi

Emily is a Greek-English facilitator, fungi grower and co-founder of the Doughnut Economics Greece Network, based in the Ziria mountains. With a background in organisational purpose and sustainability consulting, Emily has spent the past three years at Re-Green applying regenerative frameworks including permaculture design with the guidance of seasoned permaculturist Mill Millichap. Her award-winning project, Mycorama, explores the potential of fungi to support healthy ecosystems, communities and economies, including growing edible mushrooms, mycelium-based biomaterials, and creating mushroom health tonics.
